The Octagon returns of Diego Sanchez and John Hathaway are on tap for UFC 114 in Las Vegas as the pair look set to square off against one another at 170lbs.

Sanchez was most recently in action when he fought BJ Penn for the lightweight title at UFC 107. Although he showed his heart and undoubtable integrity by staying in the bout until the fifth round despite being on the wrong end of a beating, the one-sided nature of the contest and difficult weight cut has forced him back up to 170lbs.

He will meet undefeated London Shootfighter John Hathaway in a big step up for the Brit.

3-0 in the UFC, Hathaway has defeated Rick Story, Tom Egan and most recently Paul Taylor to maintain the perfect record.

A bout against Sanchez sees him take on the UFC's elite and shows that the UFC are taking him seriously and treating him as a contender. Although many are already claiming the leap is too big for Hathaway, the devoted athlete is continually training hard and looking to improve and, at just twenty-two, he has a bright future ahead of him.

It was Sanchez that originally brought the news into the public domain, stating on his Twitter account:

"Finally got a opponent John Hathaway he's 12-0 tough kid from the UK. we will be fighting may 29 in VEGAS!!!!! its on!!!"

UFC 114 is expected to be headlined by Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's UFC return against bitter rival Rashad Evans.
